WordPress upgrade saga

WordPress, the most popular blogging app, does not play nice when it comes to upgrades. I have been using WordPress 2.3.3 for a long time. I had done a few customization, and redoing them for the sake of using the latest WordPress didn’t seem like a worthy effort. So I was happy using the old WordPress, until this week when I wanted to post a new article. I try to login and to my shock, the blog was broken. I didn’t like it one bit. But WordPress being a free application, there is not much one can do other than accept that its not something that I can raise a ticket for and expect a solution. So I began to ‘Google’ the error. It took me three days to get it up and yes… I had to upgrade and loose all the ‘cool’ customization. I was really disappointed with WordPress. First, it broke on its own, than, the latest version is not backward compatible, there were atleast two things that I needed to tweak to get by blog up. So the lesson from this is to lookout for a more viable blogging app, that doesn’t die suddenly.
